Maybe, like millions of others experiencing the shift in human consciousness and evolution occurring today, you’ve recently come to realize you’re not a human being having a spiritual experience, but a spiritual being having a human experience.

Great!

Now what?

And maybe, like millions of others, once you had that realization you also experienced a profoundly new, often radically different, way of viewing and interacting with the world. As a result you may:

  • Have lost the desire for habitual behaviors you used to really enjoy, like smoking, getting drunk or high, excessive shopping, body building, sex, flirting, gossip or a vigorous social life
  • Be unable to lie, which was easy enough before, even to yourself.
  • Understand that physical reality as we know it is a complex holographic illusion, yet be wondering how to reconcile that with the daily demands of the illusion (like the inevitable pet accident on your new carpet, hungry child throwing a tantrum or car breakdown on the way to the airport). How can those still persistently interfere with your otherwise sustainable bliss, and why do they?
  • Experience a greater sense of calm and stability in yourself, yet continued or greater disharmony in those around you.
  • Be frequently ridiculed by family and friends who “don’t get it” when you try to share your views or experiences of newfound spirituality with them, even to the point where relationships are strained or broken.
  • Become completely disinterested in, or even downright cynical about organized religion. Even if you were among the most devoted of your faith, you now see religion as simply a man-made institution designed to foster a shadow experience of God at best.
  • Suffer from a burning passion for everyone around you to similarly awaken, sure that if they only could see what you can, they would be saved from a life of suffering and their own destructive tendencies.
  • Most of all, you’ve probably had some well-stored, long-held emotional baggage surface and you’ve had to work through it. Hopefully, kicking it to the curb in the process.

Whoever said spiritual awakening was easy was right . . . most awakening experiences occur in a nanosecond, are incredibly simple and profound, and are often sudden and unexpected. You don’t have a lot of control over if and when they occur. It’s what comes before and after that can rock you like a hurricane (and I’ve been through several – actual hurricanes – so I know!).

However, living an awakened existence doesn’t just happen automatically. Ultimately, (as are all things) it’s a choice. And more often than not, it doesn’t feel so easy. Which is where this blog comes in.

I’ve experienced every one of the above and more although relatively speaking, my awakening and initial self-discovery were filled with immeasurable grace compared to the paths of many. Maybe I have a “handle with care” sign stamped on my soul and if so I’m infinitely grateful, despite my share of emotional and existential angst, for the fragile treatment.

The point is, along the way I learned a few really important lessons worth sharing:

  • Want to live your truth? You’re going to need a supportive community of like minded people who don’t think you’re crazy and furthermore, feel the same as you.
  • You’re an explorer on a journey, not a racer to the finish line. There is no finish line. You’re a beautiful work in progress/process, as are we all. As am I, which is why I’m doing this.
  • We are not meant to go it alone. We’re social beings for a reason. Whether you resonate with the third-dimensional metaphor of humans as pack animals or you get the fifth-dimensional concept of all as one, the point is there truly is no separation, only the illusion of such. Connection and community will not only accelerate your journey, but also enrich it beyond measure.

The long and short of my own journey is having discovered my purpose to help newcomers to spirituality (like I was) integrate it into modern, everyday life — replete with its cornucopia of human drama, ego trips, conditioned behavior and plenty of unconscious moments along the way. After all, if it was so easy to remember who we really are – our true essence – I guess we would’ve stayed where we were before we came into this crazy human experience.

“Rejoice, and hear the good news!” No, I’m not going to get all Jesus-freak on you, I’m just sayin’ you don’t have to sell all your possessions, go to the mountaintop, become a monk, and drag yourself to the mouth of the cave for food to experience and as a result thrive from knowing the truth of who you really are. It’s right here, right now, all around you. And if you’re still reading, I invite you to join me as your guide for tuning in, turning on, and tapping into it.

Life is short. Days go by without the focus of strong intentions and the support of others on a similar path who will lovingly challenge us to be who we really are, go for what we really want, and honor our callings. (Besides, I need a place to gather with like-minded individuals too!)

So if what you’ve read so far resonates, sign up for email or RSS updates – I’ll blog about once a week, and you’ll receive news about who knows what else in the way of free stuff, calls, programs and gatherings as we grow forth together.
